Our New Clubhouse Development
|
Latest News! The Planning Application for the new Clubhouse, and the rest of the site development, was granted permission at the June 2009 meeting. The detailed floor plans are on view at the Club, and further details relating to schedules will be made available as soon as possible.
New Clubhouse Benefits
Our new Clubhouse will bring enormous benefits both to members and the town.
Members get a cleaner purpose-built Club, with lower running costs and fees. The town will benefit by having a place
where people can socialise, centre-of-town housing for people to live, and a completely
renovated seventeenth century building which would otherwise slowly fall into dereliction.
Visuals of both the new Clubhouse are on permanent display in the Middle Bar and further diagrams are linked to this description. Floor plan changes may be made after planning approval, subject to cost and change control.

New Clubhouse Description
Occupying
the upper part of our current car park, the new purpose-built Clubhouse will be
a 2-storey building on its own freehold land; a floor area of approximately 760sq.m, or so.
The
ground footprint will be about 19 metres wide by 20 metres deep.
The old listed wall separating the current garden and car park will be an
incorporated feature of the front of the Clubhouse.
To help visualise it on the ground it is roughly the length of that wall
plus about 3 metres for the entrance doors.
Car and pedestrian access will be via Conduit Lane.
The
Club's ground floor will be used for services and administration, providing easy
access to the offices, snooker, some toilets facilities and deliveries.
The main Club facilities will be on the first floor consisting of a bar leading
into the function room via large double doors to make an enlarged integrated area
for Club functions. A full glass fronted
aspect and terrace will look down into Conduit Lane,
automatically publicly promoting the Club.
With
its own toilet block and rear stair access the function room can be self contained
for private hire so as not to interfere with the running of the Club.
A single bar will benefit customer service and help staffing.
The
remainder of the existing Car Park will be developed for residential flats which
will have their own underground car park.
The existing house will be completely renovated at a cost exceeding £1million.
Most
importantly, it will look like a Club, and our running costs will be lower through
an energy efficient building. |
