At The Bar

We provide an extensive variety of drinks at reasonable prices. As well as regular beers and lagers we provide real ale Guest Beer which changes each week.
We try to limit price increases to once a year, usually after the Chancellor’s budget in April.
A variety of hot and cold food is available ranging from sandwiches to salads and cooked lunches. Sunday lunches are regular but must be booked on Saturday.
The franchised caterers can, on request, provide pre-booked evening dinners for individuals, couples or parties of members.
Children
The Club is a place where adults above the age of 18 years meet to enjoy themselves. However, we recognise that most of the members are family-oriented with children or grandchildren and so children are welcome during the day up to 7:30 in the evening, but not allowed to purchase food and drink, or play the snooker tables or the gaming machines. Please respect these constraints.
Guests
Members may introduce a personal guest at a rate of two entries per month. This may seem a bit mean, but without such a limit it would be possible for regular guests to unfairly gain the same benefits as fee-paying members.
It is a 2005 Licensing Act requirement and a Club Rule that guests must record their details in the Guest Book each time they come in, and it is the host member’s responsibility to ensure that this is carried out. The Steward is authorised to challenge any customer to ensure that this has been done.
Members may introduce as many guests as they like to ticketed Club functions.
Dress Code
The Club is generally fairly relaxed about dress code. Smart casual for men and women is allowed, and shorts in the Summer; but not working overalls, working jeans, shirt or T-shirt. Preferred weekend attire is collared shirt for men, with or without tie
The Steward is empowered to use his discretion and may refuse to serve any member or guest that is improperly attired.
Snooker
The Club has 3 well-serviced snooker tables in a dedicated setting and access to this facility is continuous each day from 10:30 am until 11:00 pm, except Bank Holidays. Competitions are held annually for singles, doubles, ‘father and sibling’, billiards and ‘over 60’s’. Entry is open to all Full Members.
Signed-in Guests may play, and youths over 16 may play provided they are accompanied by their father, and approval has been sought from, and granted by, the Club Committee. Players may not bring in their own refreshment. All other Licensing restrictions apply to under-18’s.
Cards
Card tables are available for ad hoc games, and gambling for small stakes is permissible. Poker games are occasionally played during the week on a spontaneous basis and, for those seeking more regular mental exercise, a Bridge Night is held fortnightly in the evening.
Television
A television and DVD player is provided, usually for watching major sporting occasions such as football, cricket, rugby, golf and Wimbledon. The DVD player is usually reserved for Karaoke evenings. Background music is provided by CD/Radio. Not all at the same time.
